Debtors’ Prison Exposed in Mississippi

A class-action lawsuit has been filed in a federal court on behalf of seven plaintiffs who were jailed for not being able to pay off court-imposed fines. Debtors' prisons have been abolished in the US for a long time, but apparently that hasn't stopped law enforcement in Jackson, Mississippi, from locking up people for the crime of not being able to afford to pay fees.
